why read over the summer?
Reading over the summer is a FUNdamental way to make sure your child is ready for school next year! Just 3-5 books can prevent the dreaded summer slide, but why stop there? Try to read 20min every day:
--You could read to them before bed, or have them read to a younger sibling
--Have them read to you while you're doing a chore like folding laundry
--Listen to a audiobook in the car
--Have them read outside while you soak up some sun and relax
--Waiting to pick up another sibling from camp or practice? That's another great time to read!

The website/app Epic is a convenient way to find ebooks over the summer! Families have the choice of a basic membership which is free and lets children access one book a day, or the unlimited membership which is either $80/year or $10/month. Many students use the free educational version in their classroom during the school year so they are familiar with how the app works. Click HERE to visit the Epic website.
