We are still planning the events for this year's Read Across America Week but read below for some of the fun activities from past years!
Read Across America Week is a celebration of literacy that takes place across the whole country and is centered around Dr Seuss's birthday on March 2nd. We will have a whole week of fun reading related activities, from dress up days to a visit from the Charlotte Hornet's mascot, Hugo, and his Reading Bus!
Read Across America: Because Reading Unites US!
We have a week of exciting literacy activities planned for the week of Feb 25 – March 1, all centering around this year’s theme of kindness! Take a look at the schedule below for dress up days and a special invitation to come and read with your child on Tues, Feb 26th! Also, don’t forget that the book fair will be here that week, and you’re invited to come shop with your child on Thurs, Feb 28th until 6pm, when the 4th grade musical performance will begin.
Multi-Color Monday—Wear all the colors in honor of today’s read aloud, The Kindness Quilt. We will also have author and professional basketball player, Ivory Latta, speak to students about the importance of perserverance!
Cuddle Up and Read Tuesday—Wear your pjs and during the day, we’ll drop everything to get comfy and read together. Parents, you’re invited to join in and read with your child. See the back of this flyer for more information!

Eagle Reader Thursday—Wear our school colors, purple and teal! 1st – 5th grades will also go to the Charlotte Hornet’s Reading Bus!
